Description
Map of Daggett Rd Bridge and its surroundings pre-construction of the new bridge. Notice the farm buildings which are located where the construction is going on now. These and the building on the northern bank have now been destroyed due to eminent domain. Notice Google Earth calls this "Burns Cutoff Bridge," a possible waterway used by the boaters of the delta. For anyone who knows of Burns Cutoff, it is advised to stay well clear of this treacherous slough. Along the banks are large amounts of garbage like old appliances and other junk, and in the middle of the channel the water is at its deepest around 4 feet, often less. We made the mistake of going through here once, because it appeared to be a shortcut to the waterways south of Stockton, but it only took us around 100 feet into the slough that we realized our error. Even though our boats hull is only around 2 feet below the water, even this didn't seem like enough clearance. It would be advised to stay away from the waterways south from Stockton as well, but that is another story. This cutoff lasts for about three miles.
