I thought I recognised these pics from somewhere!

LOL I didn't think anybody woulda noticed such a small detail :-D

Never noticed it until I posted the pics. Seems it was automatically added, a remnant from when I previously had stuff posted in the LDB.

The pano's defo mine though! Ask TZ, he was there when I took it ;-)

How's Broomhill today, even worse since the pano I suppose?

Not been up there since europex back in June.
Prolly a bit more plaster missing and the odd collapsed floor :-(

Last time I was up, with Daz and Del the place had gone downhill a LOT... Security are making random Deggi checks there, but no site presence.

Hence, it's an open house! :-(

I went for a quick look round in November or so, and most of the windows had been re-boarded and sealed. The owners have been trying to sell it as well, but it seems there's not been much interest..

The reason for it not selling was sited to me as asbestos contamination...

I find that odd though, having never seen any inside and given it was closed in 95? Asbestos abatement would have been done in the mid 80's!?

I was bored the other day, so I went for a quick scout around... I came across a jotter titled 'Asbestos Hazard Report' dating from 1976 detailing a list of areas at Broomhill (and Lenzie hospital) which had asbestos contamination and whether they were 'Clean' or in need of 'Repair'.. I have a photo if anyone is interested. Also, the roof of the powerhouse is almost completely detached and sinking into the building.

YES, I'd like a copy of that Photo BSkies if it's ok matey?? Usual address!

The powerhouse was a combination PH and Laundry building - shame to hear it's nearly dead. :-(

I was up here the other day - the place is holding on, but it's never looked quite as bad as it does today.

Sad to see...

Oh and security are back full time.

Is security residential like in the olden days?
Posted by TurboZutek 6/4/2006 5:37 PM | remove
Yep, portakabin power is back on site!

A bit late in the day for that kinda shit are they not? LOL
Posted by TurboZutek 6/5/2006 8:48 PM | remove
It's only too late when it's a burnt out shell.

BroomHill is far from there!

I do wonder though - with every year that passes, the place falls apart a little (or a lot) more...

Why have no developers had into this place yet?? Is it not a gold-mine of luxury flats for well-off twats?

It's so incredibly easy to find online that I shan't insult your intelligence by posting it here.
