Description
A closer, underneath look of the old bridge. It's in surprisingly good shape considering what this thing has to deal with and pretty much 0 maintenance. It looks exactly the same as it did when I was there 9 years ago, though the islands have gotten pummeled by hurricanes.

Bahia Honda especially got pounded by Hurricane Georges back in 98 or so. The surge was so amazing that it lifted up the restrooms off their foundations and tossed them 100 feet down the beach. That is also why there are 0 trees in the first photo in this section...it used to be beautiful with canopies and mangroves, but that all disappeared in the space of a week. Also, there were crab traps (with the crabs still in them!) all up and down US1, and clean up took a very, very long time.
