this was a slaughter house from the looks of your pictures. The troughs are feeding troughs for the waiting cattle. the silos are to small te be a full scale elevator. the silos was just to store the feed. very few grain elevaters handled cattle so their is no need for fencing.

Yup, looks like a pretty typical feed lot. Whether for a slaughterhouse or not, dunno. Large-scale feedlot though.

From what I've seen, this was not a slaugherhouse. It was a dairy farm. Slaughterhouses don't need to keep the cows fed - they come in on trucks and are shuttled to the killing floor. You would have chutes leading to a large cutting/butchering room.
