Description
A detail from the New York Power Authority map showing the river profile before and after inundation. The water level drops 89 feet across the power dam, and the power pond is about 80 feet higher than the river's original elevation here.

During development of the Seaway, the big power dam at Cornwall was called "Barnhart Island Powerhouse". It's since been renamed the Robert Moses-Robert H. Saunders Power Dam in honour of the heads of the New York and Ontario power authorities of the time.
