  this is ATT we are talking about, home of the "hey, lets cancel your cell phone contract making it null and void, then charge you $50 reconnection fees each time you pay us" never again will I own a cell phone :p anyone know where I can get a radio phone?

  Get your Ham Radio License and you can talk to anyone across the US or the world on radio or on landline. Forget Nextel. Radio comm is the way, especially when the power goes out, your radio will be the most reliable source there is.

a friend of mine had one and let it lapse... all his radio stuff is in a box somewhere.

  I would be much more interested in using ham as a worldwide com channel for myself if i was allowed to encyrpt things. I'll stick with voip for anything important, and ham for emergency work.
