that was one of the reasons that this was left to stand for so long... just like Moriahs' iron ore/magnetite deposits, there are millions upon millions of tons of ilmenite still left in the ground. It's just cheaper to get it somewhere else.

It is cheaper to ship the ore from India (beach sand) to NYC then it is to ship it from up here.

I poked around near Henderson forever and nearly got lost; I had to listen to the Hudson and what sun I could see to make it back to the parking area; I'm not sure it would make a difference; I'm geussing that cutting trees on OSI land (controlled by Finch Pruyn ) is a major no-no, history aside. It is marked on Topos, but I'll need GPS to find it. That gives me an idea.
