I do love crows and ravens..Especially after rescueing one.I've got a look-so-real one in my kitchen, reminding me"Cornelius" that rescued one (in french,a crow is "corneille")

I know...I wrote a comment on that in Mont-St-Michel...few months ago...
Good choice of name..those birds are highly intelligent ! And they can learn a lot of tricks, talking for example..

Some can speak with more clarity than a parrot, because of their advanced voicebox.

Hell, some of them can speak with more clarity that your average Glaswegian!

Hey, I wonder if a scottish person taught a crow to speak, it would have a scottish accent. That would be cool!

I wouldn't be surprised Corvid. When our cockatiel talks, we can hear his previous owner's way of talking and he even mimics her laugh! It's hilarious.

Forgot to add, he is even starting to mimic my wife's voice.

It would have a Scottish Accent - and hence no one would have a fucking CLUE what it was saying.

Go CROWS!!

I read recently about a vet observing a crow in his yard...his kids had dropped a bag full of jellybeans. The crow started picking the beans one by one ,placing them in a hiding space. After it was over, the guy went out to take a look to the different spots...Surprise !!!! The beans were all sorted by colors !!!! Did the crow kept the red for the end ? The story doesn't say.
Amazing no ?

To the crow's mind - they were not a bunch of jelly beans, but completely separate entities! See, we as humans know that one thing can be different in something (colour) but they are the same thing (Jelly beans).

The crow did not - and sorted them as unique items. :)

Amazing story...puts the crow ahead of most neds in terms of intelligence, i'd have thought?
Posted by TurboZutek 1/2/2006 7:56 PM | remove
  Miles and miles ahead!

Geez guys, a friggin' earthworm is miles and miles ahead of Neds in terms of intelligence. Please don't insult the crows!

And yeah, hearing this about the crow does not surprise me. They are very intelligent animals.

I didn't know that crows had a voicebox, I thought they just had vocal cords like other birds.

I know a good number of people who have or had pet crows and loved them, they said they were really good as pets.
