It looks like they used copper fittings for that standpipe, thats akward.

More likely cast bronze or brass.

You sure? I thought copper was the only metal that rusted green.

Bronze and brass are both alloys composed primarily of copper, with other metals (primarily zinc or tin) to improve hardness, machining qualities, etc. The weathering qualities and eventual patina depend on the alloy, finishing method, and other factors.
