This looks very similar to a slide I played on in NW Missouri. It was just as tall, if not taller. There were other ways up to the top of the slide, but you could climb in the middle column, up a metal ladder. In later years I remember it smelling like urine, I'm only guessing lots of kids and adults after park hours peed down it, gross!

O M F G... The other day I was just thinking about the slide we had almost EXACTLY like that one in the park near my old house, when I was a kid. When they tore it down, all the kids in our town cried... The sick bastards took it apart and put it on a stupid float that july 4th... Tells how awesome our town was.
