An envelope for 'stamper' 66 MG 507, side 2: the second side of the Doctor Zhivago soundtrack. The stamped date reads '21 OCT 1966'. Stampers are single-sided 'negative' matrices (they have mounds rather than grooves) created from the original lacquer master. They're used to press vinyl 'biscuits' into records. Side 1 and side 2 stampers go on the press, and a vinyl 'biscuit' (a thick puck of heated vinyl pellets) is placed in the middle of the press, sandwiched between labels such as the yellow one stuck to this envelope. The press then heats and presses the two stampers to create a flat vinyl record. The whole process takes 20 seconds, and then the record is left to cool down. If you own a 1966 edition of the Doctor Zhivago soundtrack purchased in Greece (highly doubtful), then it was probably produced by this stamper.

I saw dozens of these things. I didn't check them all, but all the ones I did were empty.
For obvious copyright reasons, all of the masters must have been destroyed or moved when the factory part of the facility closed down. Maybe they're still in the active building!

MGM Records were released via EMI subsidiaries outside of the USA until 1972, when MGM records was absorbed into PolyGram.
