I was making fun of the tool who was saying it wasn't lathe. Lathe are the small strips of wood, usually 1-1/2 to 2" wide, and 1/8" thick that are tacked on over the studs, and then plastered over. The most common method of finishing interior walls before the invention of drywall (or sheetrock) was lathe and plaster.
