Can I take it out for a test drive? I promise to be very careful with it?

  Roll over dead Rover. :-(
Posted by purplegrum 5/23/2005 8:18 AM | remove
It's a future classic! I'll mothball it and sell for millions when I'm middle aged! ;)
Posted by PlasticDel 5/27/2005 9:05 PM | remove
Dude, with a car like that I thought you WERE middle-aged!!!
Posted by purplegrum 5/27/2005 9:11 PM | remove
Don't mock my Rover! It goes like a bomb.

  ...when the head gasket blows...
Posted by purplegrum 5/27/2005 9:27 PM | remove
Your hurting my feelings now guys.
Posted by lost 5/27/2005 9:52 PM | remove
Sorry, but the Rover K-series is well known for blowing its head gasket prematurely. *shuts up now*
Posted by TurboZutek 5/27/2005 11:05 PM | remove
My k-series montego was forever doing that... Till I chemical metal'd the head directly on.

:-D
Posted by purplegrum 5/28/2005 11:36 AM | remove
Can't be that bad, you can find the K Series in the Lotus Elise.
Posted by PlasticDel 5/28/2005 6:05 PM | remove
I was just joking when I said middle-aged...

I meant old-aged!!!
:-))

Nah, the 25 is alright.

I used to borrow a 220 turbo diesel from work.

Great wee car.

  No wonder they went bankrupt.
Posted by purplegrum 6/2/2005 10:53 PM | remove
[rant] They should have never gone bankrupt, the government should have stepped in. Police should have used Rovers etc., if you go to France or Germany you never see 'foreign' government cars. [/rant]
Posted by TurboZutek 6/4/2005 9:15 AM | remove
The police dropped the rover linage for a few reasons... High servicing costs, repairs and the fact they were all shite didn't help.

Wait, you think me borrowing the rover made them go bankrupt ? :-(
Posted by lost 6/4/2005 12:42 PM | remove
I don't think Rover was any more shite than any other mainstream European car brand the police uses.

You'll be pleased to know that the PGmobile has been replaced with a Nissan Almera.
Posted by lost 7/2/2005 6:10 PM | remove
Teehee, my granddad has a Nissan Almera. You have a 78-year old man's car. :-)
Posted by TurboZutek 7/2/2005 10:03 PM | remove
Yes, but I also have a Nissan Almera.

So in fact, he has a young explorers car - as does your GrandDad.

Bet you didn't know Gramps was so cool, hey? ;-)
Posted by TurboZutek 7/2/2005 10:08 PM | remove
  See, it explores!

It's still an old person's car. Gramps hates it because it stalls too easily.
Posted by TurboZutek 7/2/2005 10:54 PM | remove
  Uhmmmm... Right.

/Never stalled it once, has good torque at low RPM.
Posted by lost 7/2/2005 11:15 PM | remove
He's used to diesels though. The 1.5l petrol is quite a culture shock.
Posted by TurboZutek 7/2/2005 11:53 PM | remove
  Yeah, I came from a 1.3CDTi corsa...

It takes a bit of getting re-acquainted for sure! When I first got it I had to rev the fuck to make it move at all...

After 4000 or so miles it opened up a good one though!
Posted by purplegrum 7/3/2005 12:58 AM | remove
I'll need to get a picture of my Almera 'doing the rounds' so to speak. Miss the acceleration of the 25, but least the almera has headroom.
Posted by TurboZutek 7/3/2005 3:10 AM | remove
If it's just brand new, wait a few thousand miles, the acceleration is there... Gotta wait for it to come out though.
Posted by purplegrum 7/3/2005 10:44 AM | remove
I'm a poor recently finished student! Course it's not brand new ;) Was owned by an old guy before me I think though so it's probably never been pushed.

Posted by TurboZutek 7/3/2005 9:23 PM | remove
Give it a gentle beating over a few hundred then, hey!? :-)
Posted by lost 7/8/2005 5:41 PM | remove
After the mocking of the ex-PGmobile I now have a... Rover 416TC. :'(
Posted by purplegrum 7/8/2005 5:44 PM | remove
hahahaha - how did that work out?
Posted by lost 7/8/2005 5:49 PM | remove
It was cheap and with the Renault of awfulness out of action I needed some wheels.
Posted by purplegrum 7/8/2005 5:50 PM | remove
Aw they're not that bad. I was driving the ex-PGmobile today, brought back memories.
Posted by lost 7/8/2005 7:03 PM | remove
I like it actually, the grandad styling belies the rorty engine and the great handling. The only thing is the seat's set too high and I'm too tall for it. Oh well.
Posted by purplegrum 7/8/2005 8:08 PM | remove
i found the 25 a bit cramped myself being 6ft 2, but after the almera the 25 has quite a gokart/mini feel.
