He stayed there while President McKinnily was in Buffalo where he was shot. Interesting note: that assanation is the incident that caused the Secret Service to be assigned to guarding all future presidents.

This house was still part of the sportsman's club in the early 20th century; the only original building; The Macnaughtons were still around and invited him to stay here; it used to be the bank; The Tahawus club "lodge" is where he ate dinner; it's on the lower works road. Aiden lair, which we drove by is where he changed horses on his crazy drive to North Creek. He set a record apparently.

I think it's been removed; they are finally trying to stabilize the remaining buildings; still no historic marker; all the hikers have no clue what it is they are looking at.
