Don't worry NG; the thrill of chasing down a possible GREAT place is part of the fun; I've wasted more time driving around just looking for places like this thinking it'll be the magical "abandoned mansion on hill" that the vandals/local teens overlooked. This is one such place, that was totally dissapointing, but in the process of research, I learned a hell of a lot about something twenty miles from me that I'd never heard of; and with high hopes I poked around the woods forever, searching for something the state forgot to slash and burn; I even poked the light down some OBVIOUS sewer drains hoping to find a basement that they forgot to fill in. In the process I learned the history of this hotel, even watched a '50's Natalie Wood movie, and got even more horned up. Well, the state forgot to tear down one thing, and it was almost exciting to find something intact! Especially with it being mentioned in the movie! You aint the first to spend hours chasing overgrown pavement! http://www.uer.ca/locations/show.asp?locid=22785

Heheh, I'll redeem myself with a great gallery update to Cannibal9's Alpha Concrete location. That place is amazing. But last time I went there, I wasn't armed with my camera (my dad had to borrow it for a trip).
And that playhouse is really neat, nice find.

When I lived in Sitka we had a whole abandoned subdivision nearby. There was a main street, side streets, cul-de-sacs, driveways, etc all laid out, but no houses on it and the roads barricaded and unmaintained. Part of a development that went broke.

That looks like a similar place I ran into over at Greece (a suburb of Rochester). There was several streets appearing in the same way (constructed long ago, but long forgotten!) I'm not sure if they are there anymore, but for those Rochester area UX'ers, they were at the corner of West Ridge Road (Rte.104) and NY 390 on the North side adjacent to a bike path that runs alongside 390. This was back in the early 90s, so I'm not sure if the place is still around. To be on the safe side I'd look at the Google or Yahoo maps or even better the online satellite photo applications before you venture over there, especially if you aren't from the ROC. :)
