Varying in size from small to medium. Most buildings are completely cleared out but some things were left. Lots of whiteboards and bulletin board that still have staff and patient writing on them. Almost all doors are unlocked, but be careful of the guy mowing the grass. It opened in 1950 as an expansion to the original hospital complex. The old complex finished slowly moving here throughout the 60s. This site was recently replaced by one new building about a mile away.  Media Coverage  Future Plans Demolition of the Western State Hospital complex began in early 2021. By April, about half of the buildings had been demolished.
