"A World War II U.S. Army Radar Site established in 1943. Used to provide fire control information to large caliber (6" and above) coastal gun batteries in the Harbor Defense of San Francisco against enemy warships. Located on Hill 640 Military Reservation near Stinson Beach, Marin County, California. Closed in 1946." - FortWiki The first of the structures was completed in 1941, with the last being completed in 1944. The site consists of base end (spotting) stations (B3S3 Townsley, B6S6 Davis, B3S3 Construction No. 129, and B6S6 Construction No. 243), support infrastructure, and and a SCR-296 (No. 3) radar station.

Hill 640 has been repurposed as a part of Mt. Tamalpais State Park. It is likely to remain maintained as-is for the next several years.
