Detailed history is unclear. But the structure was built under the classification of "warehouse and/or service building" in 1945. Holy Redeemer Church bought the already abandoned property in 2013. Permits were pulled to begin converting the building in to the Institute for the Preservation of African American Music and Arts. Minimal work ever occurred, with the assumption being lack of funds. A dedication was scheduled to be held on June 1st of 2018, unclear what happen on that day as this project was never completed. The website still runs, is still accepting donations, but has no info past the dedication ceremony that probably never happened...
Holy Redeemer has been cited repeatedly on this property for construction debris (could have been illegally dumped there, as is common on empty lots in Milwaukee), garbage, and unsecured structure....
