The main part of the building dates back to 1917, and there a few later additions to the building. The "Dog House" Gymnasium is located behind the school. The school has only been closed since 2006 and is in generally good condition.
3.21.2023 - The classrooms were demolished in 2014. Big Dogs Fitness and Gym operates in the former gymnasium. They offer general fitness and a gymnastics program.

It was interesting to see such a small, old, rural school that had only recently closed. There are still many signs and papers hanging up from when school was in session.

Providence High School was part of the Providence Independent School District. The last class graduated in 2006, when Providence schools merged with the Webster County School District. The school is fairly small and usually had between 100 and 130 students enrolled per year.

The Providence High School property will most likely be auctioned or sold within the next few years.
