 Overview
 Description
All in all, it's about 6 blocks worth of houses. Each and every single one is abandoned, but pretty well trashed. However, there's no security really at all. But there are a few occupied houses in the area, so just don't be an idiot.

This is a whole subdivision, maybe about 40 houses in total (plus barns, sheds, etc). Overall, everything is pretty trashed, but there's still some cool stuff left. If you like houses, this is probably porn for you.

     History
I have NO idea about the history of this place. I hope someone else can contribute if they know something.

    *Following info added by Retro_Chick*

The subdivision is called Stonehouse Farms.
The properties are in Commerce City, Adams County.
The addresses are all on the following streets:
    Addish St.
    Buchanan Rd.
    Buchanan St.
    Duquesne St.
    E 132nd Ave.
    E 134th Ave.
    Gun Club Rd.

According to some digging I did (but couldn't link to, otherwise I would) on the Adams county site, it seems that the original filing for developing the property was in 1971. I assume the houses were built soon after.

I have no way of telling if the houses were owned by individuals when they were new or went directly to ownership under the City & County of Denver, as all the sales history is nowhere to be found in the assessor records. Assessor records are also void of any building information- the parcels are listed as exempt vacant property.

Since at least 1997* the City of Denver has rented the 40-some homes out. (*Based on info in the June 2007 news article).

The house at 13340 Buchanan St. was demolished in 2004.

In November 2005 there was a news story about DIA being a "slumlord" describing the run-down, trashy and substandard conditions of the houses. The City spokesman said on hidden camera that they don't clean out the houses from the previous tenants, and offer a month of free rent to a new tenant if they clean out the house themselves.

In June 2007 a news story said the residents of Stonehouse Farms would have to be out of their homes by the end of August because the company that owns the mineral rights to the property wanted to start drilling for oil there, even though the City of Denver said that the homes are in such disrepair and that they were unsure if they would fix them up or demolish them.

Another story on the eviction of these residents was posted just two days before they all had to be out.

Then in 2008 the Denver Post ran an article about the possibility of having a wind farm on the property, but there is no follow up to that, but I'm assuming it fell through.
