Forty-one years ago, Canac Kitchens opened its plant in the farmlands of Thornhill and by riding the post-war housing boom and a low Canadian dollar became one of North America's biggest names in kitchen cabinetry.
All that has changed.
The once-rural plant is now surrounded by urban sprawl filled with neighbours who complain about fumes and noise, even as they enjoy the Canac cabinets built into their homes in the 1970s.
The company has been owned since 1996 by U.S.-based multinational bathroom fixtures giant Kohler Co.

Not sure. There was no one at the security office to ask, and as far as I have seen through the media, another company might buy it and move in, or it might be renovated and/or torn down for something else.
