There are still 4 abandonned buildings on the land, but they planned to be destroyed soon to build new ones. The stage of decay inside the buildings is incredible, i recommend going!

The building is in advanced stage of decay. There are mushrooms pretty much everywhere on the first floor and basement, you should have a respirator before entering.

Named after a Scottish manufacturer Walter Benny, who had purchased the land in 1838 for farming purposes, the Benny Farm project is inspiring a revolution in sustainable housing development. Its unprecedented environmental strategies are complemented by the active promotion of social inclusiveness and well-being. Guided by a participatory process, this cooperative promotes equity and responsibility amongst this community and enables medium and lower income families, single parents, individuals with limited mobility and seniors to live in healthy and environmentally friendly dwellings. Originally built by the CMHC in 1947 as housing for veterans, the Benny Farm neighborhood is now being re-developed enhancing its cultural and social heritage. This redevelopment is happening in different phases. http://www.sustain...ng=En&n=137042D9-1

The development provides approximately 570 affordable housing units. These units are a mix of housing types, including: cooperatives, non-profit housing, private rental units and condominiums, townhomes, triplex, sixplex and apartment buildings. Through cooperatives and non-profit housing, approximately 200 rental units are available to serve the specific needs of seniors, young families, single mothers and people with limited mobility. http://www.bennyfarm.org
