The hotel was opened in the 70s, and remodeled in the late 80s/early 90s adding the lobby area (pool, offices, etc... the pool was in the back where the parking lot is when the hotel first opened) The hotel went down hill.. from a holiday inn, Ramada... few other names and closed due to lack of funding as the Capitol Plaza hotel (The last owners were trying to remodel and cater to a black audience). No. Rooms: 272 Building Size: 142,324 SF Lot Size: 8.02 Acres Demolition started in February of 2021 with plans of new apartments to be built on the property.

Alliance Residential Company bought the former Capital Plaza hotel that stands just north of Interstate 440, at 2815 Capital Blvd., from CB Hotel LLC. Plans call for the 12.99-acre site to be redeveloped into an apartment complex called Broadstone Oak City. There will be 335 units spread across four buildings. Most of the apartments will be one-bedroom units, with 68 two-bedroom units and 16 three-bedroom units. As of June 2021, this has been demolished.
