Fence, and nosy neighbors.

UPDATE: 01/16/2009 The site is now being converted to office space. It is rumored a doctor's office and other businesses will move in once the property is finished. If you like active construction, hurry up and get here, otherwise you missed the abandoned phase.

I had my first and second real jobs in this shopping center. Prior to that I did odd jobs and mowed lawns. This complex once housed a supermarket, a gym, several restaurants, a dry cleaners, tax office, video rental store, and various other services from time to time. It was an important part of the community here, as it was the most convenient place to get food. On February 17th 1998, in the early morning hours, an F0 or F1 tornado touched down, and caused significant structural damage to the building, as well as blowing out the windshield of every vehicle in the parking lot, and giving everyone present a decent scare. Power was lost, and the complex had to be evacuated. Surprisingly, the place was back in working order about 48 hours later, although still leaky and not 100%. Not very long after this, Winn Dixie decided to relocate it's business elsewhere. This decision had major impact, as many of the other businesses relied on customers from the supermarket to survive. Eventually, they all closed up. Only the Pizza Hut and gas station nearby remain open. Today, with a little help from a demolition/construction crew, the plaza is slowly falling apart. Nothing much remains except rusty metal and concrete. There are plans to turn the property into an office complex, but a sign claims it was to open Fall of 2008, too late for that now. Construction is delayed, and the place stands empty and open, for now.

Office complex, possibly doctor's office, but so far nothing firm.
Edit 2017: Site is now an active multi-function plaza. One stop shop for all your greek food, physical therapy, barbering needs.
