In 1957 the Ontario Department of Highways (DHO) opened the first stretch of the Ottawa Queensway between Hurdman Avenue across the Rideau River to Alta Vista Drive and St. Laurent Blvd. A maintenance depot was required and was strategically located along Tremblay Road close to the St. Laurent exit. The DHO also erected some offices on the sprawling 30 acre site.
Later a large ambulance depot was also constructed on the site. It was demolished in 2006/2007. The remaining buildings are now vacant. A two storey office building facing Tremblay Road was closed in 2007 as several government ministries relocated to a new building on Preston Street. At the present time some sort of remediation, possibly asbestos removal, is being carried out on this building. Towards the rear of the property the MTO maintenance garage and a crew HQ building remain vacant and abandoned.

All buildings are to be demolished and a rezoning application is underway to allow commercial development.
