At one time the airport perimeter had a large military base. During the second world war Nazi prisoners were allegedly held there. There is still a Air National Guard base at the airport, but most of the buildings were razed about 10 years ago. There are still a few buildings in the secure area, and a lot of foundations. This particular bunker is set back from the road, and remains.
