"Foster Bowl was built in 1928 when the locals still got around on horses. Some of the old hitching posts still stand."
1904 - Ventura County pioneer and philanthropist Eugene Preston Foster initiates the idea of a county park system.
1908 - The 205-acre Foster Park is established.
1928 - The concrete amphitheater begins construction in the summer of and is dedicated on November 26.
1960’s – The bowl is still frequently used through most of the 1960’s.
1970’s – The bowl’s use is in great decline as events shift to the Libbey Bowl in Ojai.
1988 - An attempt to renovate Foster Park Bowl is mounted by the Ventura County Repertory Theatre.
2007 – An assessment states it would require $30,000 of work to clean the area for use.
2009 - Teenagers for The Preservation of Historical Landmarks, a student group based at Foothill Technology High School, begin the work to get the necessary permits and release forms in order to go to the bowl and do an initial cleanup.
