Just got off the phone with her and she shed a little light on the situation. She showed horses back in the early 70s and was quite successful I might add. She got bucked once by her horse Dancer and sustained pretty serious injuries. It seems that my family took Dancer here to be trained after the incident. She even remembered the name Pied Piper vaguely (see pics).
