     History
Mount Wellington Tin mine in Cornwall opened in 1976 and was one of the newest tin mines to be built and one of the last to close in this region. Mount Wellington Mine was the last new deep tin mine to be built anywhere in the World. Work started on the site in 1970, and was completed in 1975. Wellington closed in 1978, and then re-opened in 1980. There had been mining at the site in the Bissoe Valley for over 100 years before the mine closed for good in 1991 when the price of tin collapsed.
     Media Coverage
There are many references to Mount Wellington and nearby Wheal Jane mines in the Cornish online press.
     Future Plans
Site is being made safe and mine buildings will be demolished
