A complex of four, brick factory buildings all pushed together and sharing walls. Three of the buildings have two or three floors, and the fourth building has six floors. There is a very cool, spooky, dungeon-like basement. June, 2010 update: with regret, I must report that this building has been demolished. **sobs**

This would be interesting to people who like industrial architecture. It shows what you could do with wood when there were huge forests and trees in the US. The wooden trusses, beams and posts are about as large as you could get.

The security system is powered, but probably not connected to the company.

A recent zoning application says that the six-floor building was built in 1905. The 1909 Sanborn map labels the complex: "Smith & Sons Mfg. Co. - mfrs. of grading tools." The 1939 Sanborn map labels it: "Continental Can Co. - m'f'g tin cans & metalware." The 1951 map labels it: "Proctor & Gamble Mfg. Co." In more recent times, the complex was used for storage and a car rental company. It is currently unused, but there is still power in the building. It is used for the telecomm cables which go up the elevator shaft to antennas on the roof.

There is a zoning proposal to change the zoning to residential. The idea was to convert the six-floor building to live/work spaces. Unlikely to happen, in my opinion, because the neighborhood is too isolated.
