The ticket office and grandstands are still there after 40 years of abandonment. The Eno River is right next to the track and offers a scenic view.

|
One of the first two NASCAR tracks, and is also the only track left over from the original 1949 season. Built by Bill France, who later went on to build Talladega speedway. It was always a dirt mile track and never paved (actually 0.9 miles). The track was renamed Orange Speedway in 1954. The track was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, and in 2003 several miles of walking trails were added.
The ticket booth, restrooms, refreshment stand, flag stand and announcers' platform have been reconstructed by volunteers, robbing the location of some of its 'decaying' charm. The grandstand has been cleared of brush, as has the track, itself. Still, a number of crumbling outbuildings remain, for exploration.
The site is popular with joggers, hikers and dog walkers.
