The building consists of two structures, the head house and the sack house. The sack house is a small, one story, open structure about 100x50' on the north/eastern side of the head house. The sack house was used for loading grain into sacks which the head house was responsible for loading grain on to barges. It was also reponsible for sorting/sifting/filtering and weighing grain etc... The head house is comprimised of 6 stories, each having a different role on the prossessing of grain starting at the top and working it'd way down. It stands at a soaring 125 feet and the view from up top is un-believeable.

Type: Grain Elevator
Status: The sack house portion of the structure is now open to the public as a non-profit interpretive center which is wie open during the day. You can no longer access the headhouse due to a metal gate that they erected during the renovation. As for the head house, I'm not exactly sure of it's status at this time. I do know that there is always a light on, illuminating one of the upper-levels which may or may not indicate some sort of activity. From what little you can see through the gate from the sack house, they have done a bit of work, mostly in the form up cleaning up the place, and there also seems to be a few props added in an attempt to show people what it was like as a worker there.
Accessibility: Easy, just walk in if it's the day-time
Recommendation: check it out if you're nearby

The structure is nationally significant as the first successful grain terminal elevator owned and operated by a farm cooperative in the United States. Ironically, I find the place more interesting now that it's being used again than when it was a vacant shit-hole. However, you can no longer access the roof which used to be the high-point (in three different ways) of being there.
