     History
World war 2 observation post which was used in experimental gunsight and weaponry development. The range was out at sea and aircraft would strafe floating targets whilst being monitored from this post. There is a large anti-shell wall behind the post which would protect the occupants as planes coming from Exeter commenced their firing runs. There was, it seems, also a mounting of some sort at the front of the building on which weaponry or optical devices could be tested. Also possibly used to monitor German and allied aircraft activity the East Devon airspace. Scallop divers in adjacent water often used to find spent cannon shells from the days when this range was active. The shells were then sold on in local tourist shops.
     Media Coverage
    None
     Future Plans
2008 - the post has been substantially restored and cleaned up but may still fall into the sea. A bench has been installed for passing walkers and completely ruins the tone and UE value of the site.
