 Overview
 Description
All of the buildings are built of stone, as is common in Spain. The houses have ornate details, such as tiled patios and carved stone, while the mill is most likely from the late Roman era and in places resembles a fortress. Although overgrown, it would be possible to renovate.

     History
These two homes and the mill in the village of Viete were owned by my family and were abandoned only in the 1960's as everyone scattered about the globe. The mill was one of a set of two - the second has been expropriated by the municipality and restored. The home in the village belonged to relatives of mine and had been somewhat modernized - there is evidence of electrical cables running into the house. The manor above the village, however, was never modernized. Although now in ruins, it is easy to see that the house was once a very splendid manor - there is a small fountain, probably over two hundred years old, outside the front door, ornate carvings in the woodwork along the walls, a carved stone staircase and arched entranceways into a small interior courtyard. I am not sure of the exact history of the house (any relatives of mine reading this can feel free to help me out) but my family had been established in the village for many generations as feudal landowners, and although my visit took place on a sleepy weekday afternoon the three people I encountered still remembered members of my family despite our nearly fifty years of absence.

     Future Plans
There is some idle discussion of family members returning to remodel the manor on the hill but it seems unlikely. It is in a reasonably isolated part of the Spanish countryside and would require a hefty investment to be livable again. The house in the village would need to be completely gutted and rebuilt, while seeing as one of the mills has already been refurbished it is unlikely that the other will be.
