     History
First known as the Chambers Memorial Hospital, the original building was opened in 1912. Over the years many additions have been built- a significant addition was made in 1968. At some point the hospital was merged with the St. Francis Hospital on Cornelia Street, which was run by nuns. The hospital was then renamed Smiths Falls Community Hospital South Unit.

In 1995 the Smiths Falls Community Hospital was amalgamated with the Great War Memorial Hospital in Perth to form the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital. It was decided to keep the North Unit and close the South Unit. Portions of the old part of the hospital were demolished as evidenced by scattered red bricks and stone foundations. The remainder has been decaying since, with most of the rear windows having been broken.
