Interesting: 1. The company who is in charge of the demo auctioned off the "first swing" at the building demo "event." 2. History of serious abuse. Like most state schools in the US, Broadview Heights faced various allegations of abuse. 3. The hospital was asbestos abated, but the city faced some financial issues and never made it any further with the project. 4. The demolition company plans to recycle 90-95% of the construction debris. I did not see ANY evidence of such activity. 5. Built in 1939 as the Broadview Veterans Administration Hospital for sick veterans and TB patients. 6. Local ghost hunters believed there was a ghost called "the Pink Lady" lurking inside the center. (I visited this location 3 times and never saw her) 7. A female staff member was sentenced to a year in the Ohio Reformatory for Women after she was found guilty of patient abuse. At the time of the final incident, this staff member was already on a "Last Chnace Agreement" with the employer after she had been suspended for 45 days for a previous offense of resident abuse/neglect. She had worked for the state as a Therapeutic Program Worker (TPW) for fifteen years. The final incident leading to her incarceration involved a developmentally disabled patient, and wound marks/welts found on his thighs after her shift in the shape of a metal slotted spoon. The spoon was later found in a staff area, and the attending physician did not testify nor made a statement as to when the injury occured. (see links below for more) 8. The patients/clients did not receive their Christmas presents according to various staff testimonies. (see below)
