A series of farming buildings, including a small guest house, larger three story house, and various garages. A few buildings remain on the many acres of land, not touched by vandals, or explorers. ------------ - House and barn are now gone, but church and cemetery remain.

The cemetary suggests that the property has been active since the 1860s.. and various establishments have come and gone. sorry, screwed up replying to this, but here goes....found some historical information Thank you to arteffex for this information.
I checked this place out a few days ago, and was completely amazed. There is a lot of history that goes along with this place. I researched some of the gravestone and come up with some interesting things. The schoolhouse type building was actually a church, The Shiloh Methosist Church built in 1857. The land at the time was owned by Samuel Robb, his grave stone is there as well as many family members 2 wives, Martha and Mary and his patents, John Robb and Mary Young (also on this site). In 1892 a grist mill was built nearby. Many of the headstones were of people from Irish and Scottis decent, and many families are at this site. I'm wondering if there was an illness that passed through???? Sidney Martin Blair did the magority of the building on this site. He worked in oil in alberta and chicago, (his career list goes on and on). He was also successful in fields other than engineering. The original farm at Cedar Mains was gradually expanded, other property in the vicinity purchased, and before long, through judicious management and careful selection of stock, he had made a name for himself as a recognized breeder of purebred cattle and pedigree sheep. His first wife, Janet (Nettie), died in January 1974, and in 1979 Dr. Blair married Dr. Margaret Milton, a Toronto coroner. They continued to live at Cedar Mains until he was struck by a car and killed on the night of February 13, 1981 I found a resume belonging to Richard Harber dated 1985. At this point his adress was listed in Newcastle. He also was from the UK, he was married to Susan Harber. I also found a cheque for Mary Jane English, I'm still trying to see where she fits into the picture. Richard Harber was born in England, and was (at least) a deck officer in the Royal navy. |
