Ordinary looking single level ranch with full basement. Lots of artifacts in and around the home, most of which are blackened from the fire that pretty well gutted the home.

This home was one of the original residences; appears to date from the 1930s. It is conspicuously out-of-place on what is now a "highway". It stands back from the road about 100 feet. For the explorer, it is an easy location to find. And although busy locations are best left alone, this is an exception. Traffic flies by at 80 KPH with no residencial neighbours and a community college across the street. No one even pays any attention to the house. There is plenty of room on the shoulder to pull over and park. Just watch your step. Along the front of the house is a covered ditch that once held up a driveway. It is so overgrown now that you can easily end up falling through the rotting tube below a few inches of soft earth. Ditto for the uncovered septic tank on the side of the building. Most of the contents of the 2nd floor are in the basement now. I imagine any explorers who attempt to walk around will end up in the same place. Know what I mean, Vern?

This location is on what is now a busy international truck route to/from the Ambassador Bridge which links Windsor/Detroit. At the time this home was built, it was all farms in the area. The past few decades has seen the addition of a large community college to the landscape, suburbs springing up with their typical backsplits and raised ranches, and of course the 18-wheelers belching diesel fumes as they roll off the 401 onto Huron Church Road. UPDATE 2012: They are currently building a superhighway over this property. Even the original septic system is likely gone. Thanks for visiting!
