H.H. Robertson Co., maker of cellular flooring and other construction products, turned to automated manufacturing lines that were computer controlled in 1984. Cellular floors are used as a conduit for electrical wiring and forms for poured concrete. The current crumbling plant which is located in Ambridge, PA and slated for demolition still stands as a reminder of this once innovative technology.
While mostly cleaned out, human remnants of the past remain: a few photographs, and old Lava Lamp, and miscellaneous paperwork. Evidence of vagrants suggests more recent inhabiters. With the scheduled plant demise only a few weeks away, the demolition has already begun with the removal of large portions of floor and roof.
