     History
I have not been able to find information on this site. I do know that it is very old. Old timers in the area tell me it was originally the MK&T (Katy) RR Yard. During WWII, it was converted to a munitions factory. Union Pacific took ownership of the property when they bought out MK&T in the late 80's or early 90's. This is still an active site. I thought I'd check it out on a Sunday, but apperently, it a 7 day a week operation. I'm not sure if it's manned 24/7, so maybe a nighttime expediton may yield better results.

This was the Missouri Kansas and Texas or KATY Lines' Warden Engine shops. Built in 1923 it was one of two steam engine shops that serviced the line, this handling the Southern half. A few tracks enter the building where one of two huge 180 ton cranes would lift each locomotive and move it to the appropriate bay for servicing. The huge 4 story 475 foot long shop could handle up to 18 locomotives

I dont think it was ever converted to a munitions factory though as the railroad was a vital operation during World War Two. **I guess it was converted into a munitions factory for Vietnam, so I stand corrected.**

Also of interest is an abandoned yard complete with an old turntable. There was a roundhouse there as well but it burned in the 1930s and was never rebuilt.
