The building was opened in 1960, giving a slight economic boost to the small town of Venice. Practice and shows continued here for three decades until the final performance in 1991. It is uncertain why the circus closed its doors, though a contributing factor could have been damage done by Tropical Storm Marco in October 1990. The building has also been used for sports and other such events.
