The Hebrew Orphan Asylum is a historic institutional orphanage and former hospital building located in the Mosher neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It has also been known as West Baltimore General Hospital, Lutheran Hospital of Maryland and is currently being redeveloped by Coppin Heights Community Development Corporation to be a Center for Healthcare & Healthy Living. It's also worth mentioning that this place is located in a rundown inner city neighborhood. Be respectful of the residents that live there and don't assume they're going to hurt you/mug you/whatever just because they live in an economically depressed area. However, that being said, it is wise to park your car within eyesight and to take all valuables with you. 11.2022 This location has ben restored and is once again active, operating as an opioid treatment facility.

The Hebrew Orphan Asylum opened in the 1870s. Located in west Baltimore which at the time was developed either for farming or nothing at all. The orphanage was originally funded by wealthy Jewish families but as time went on the money disappeared and the orphanage had to close its doors in 1923. In 1924 the site reopened as the “West Baltimore General Hospital” and expanded adding several new buildings. More troubling times led to more change as the hospital was again renamed, this time to the “Lutheran Hospital” in 1950. In 1963 there was a new Lutheran Hospital built and use of the old buildings decreased more and more with time. They now site unused and in very bad shape.
