     History
Sherman Texas was a major city a long time before the War Between The States. It was the industrial and manufacturing hub for this part of the Southwest. Six different railroads built lines to Sherman. For this reason more and more factories, mills, grain companies and foundaries sprung up along these lines.

This foundry was built a long time after the Civil War though, 1957 according to my research. They apparently produced cast iron pieces for other machinery here up until they closed in 1998.

In 1998 the Texas Natural Resources Commission fined the Sherman Foundry for repeated violations of the Texas Clean Air Act and offsite contamination of the neighborhood around the foundry.

In 1999 they were fined again for not paying their fines from the previous year. This is Texas Superfund Site #TXN000605566.

The Grayson county tax records do not fully acknowledge this place and they assess the land value at only $2200 with $0 for the building and improvements. The building has become more of a liability than an asset.

Looks like it was demolished some time between 2012 and 2014 based on satellite imagery.
