 Overview
 Description
This is a very large brick and concrete building complex of more than 200000 total square feet on 45 acres of land in a busy industrial park with paved parking on three sides. The warehouse area alone is 120000 square feet.

It looks like it may have been added to and expanded on in the past, some interior remodeling and clean up is evident. There are actually about 4 buildings all connected here.

There is minimal vandalism mostly confined to the office area.

  • UPDATE JULY 2008: spotted a security guard on site in white van

     History
In September of 2000 Exide Batteries bought out competitor GBN Technologies. In October of 2000 they closed the plant and layed off over 250 employees. In 2002 they sold the plant to Envicon Development in Plano who turned around and sold it to ICC Surfwood in 2005.

Since they made automotive batteries here the site is probably contaminated with lead, cadmium, corrosives and other crud. In one area the concrete floor and most of the underlying soil has been removed.

UPDATE JULY 2008: drove by and noticed recent activity, security patrol driving around in marked white van and about a dozen semi trailers parked in east lot, consider this site active as of now.

UPDATE OCTOBER 2008: drove by and noticed building is gone. Demolition is well underway.
