That place is by far one of the biggest abandoned complex I've ever seen, covering a total of 88 acres . Many buildings are still powered, some of the rail cranes still work! ( If you have the guts to operate them!) There is alot of machinery left, altough some parts are totally empty. Rooftop access, maze like catwalks to access specific parts, still heated offices with rooms full of routers and electronic equipment... I could go on for a long time.

The facilities, originally founded by the Grand Trunk Railroad, which later became the Canadian National Railway Company (CN), were one of the first Railroad Maintenance Shops established in North America. These same facilities were the principal repair and remanufacturing center for CN through most of the 20th century. In 1993, CN sold the complex to Alstom Canada ( canadian division of the french company Alstom) The plant lost most of its employes in a slow agony that ended in 2003. At that point the factory had only 20 workers. Sad story but it is unfortunatly too common here in Montreal (CSF, Redpath, Stelco, Canadian Vickers, Malt plant...)

Was supposed to be turned into one of the world's biggest cinema studio but the project was put on hold because the big Hollywood productions are coming less and less to Montreal. Currently there are 3 different bidders who want to remain anonymous that have made offers to Alstom to purchase the property. The biggest obstacle to any redevelopment is land contamination, It is estimated the decontamination will cost at least 300 Millions $ ( Lead, PCBs, and alot of other healthy stuff). So we can assume this place will rot for some time. -:)
