     History
"The 16 acre property manufactured rifles for WWI and WWII, and has also been home to Sperry Univac, and the Charlestown Outlet Complex, which operated through the 1980s.

Now, the EPA is working to clean up the site, which may lead to a new chapter in the property's long history. The site was originally referred to the Environmental Protection Agency in 2008, when the state discovered illegal demolition of buildings containing asbestos and harmful PCB fluids.

Four buildings, once originally all connected are now being demolished, slowly."

"Cancilla, a local attorney, purchased CharlesTown in late 2007, and planned to make it into a retail and residential development that would once again be an asset to the area.
But the state departments of Labor and Environmental Conservation halted demolition of buildings on the eastern end of the complex in early 2008 after they discovered the company doing the work didn’t have the necessary permits and hadn’t taken proper safety precautions, according to a federal Environmental Protection Agency report.

7/14 This entire complex is now abandoned and parts have been demolished. The previous owner apparently illegally demolished environmentally contaminated buildings and this has posed a problem for redevelopment.

     Future Plans
Demolition and redevelopment plans now stalled.

10.18.2023 - A pin on Google Maps shows it as a B & J Health Facility, but it seems remediation is still ongoing at this time. I could not find any official word on validity of it becoming a health facility, or anything else for that matter...
