  •  Interesting Features
    English:

A very nice place to go, even though it is impossible to get inside unless you are a ninja. It features magnificent architecture, many medieval-style guard towers and is located near a stream overlooked by a waterfall. Located in a heavily-wooded vale on the outskirts of the town of Mascouche, the Pierre-Le-Gardeur Manor benefits of an exceptional environment, not only in the nature that surrounds it, but also in the history that emanates from its walls.

     History
    English:

The construction of the first building dates back to 1715, under the impulse of Pierre Le Gardeur, grandson of lord Pierre Le Gardeur de Repentigny. The territory on which this manor is built had been conceded to the latter by the Compagnie de la Nouvelle-France.

Around 1763, a new construction was added to the main building. Between 1796 and 1954, the manor had many different owners and went through multiple renovations, which gave it the look it has today. Those were favourable times for the Manor, and it was frequented, among others, by the marquis de Vaudreuil, intendent Hoquard, the marquis de Moncalm and the honourable R.B. Bennet, the ex-Prime Minister of Canada, who sojourned there during certain summers. In 1940, the manor was host to the great duchess of Luxemburg.

The manor was subsequently enlarged and transformed into a high school. It was used for strictly scholar purposes until the end of the 1990’s. The building is presently a Sûreté du Québec police station. The beauty of the site and the architectural value of the manor are undeniable. Unfortunately, no visits are possible. Worse yet, no serious architectural study was done to update and interpret this regional gem.

     Future Plans
    English:

EDIT as of March 2011 : All parts of the buildings are now completely abandonned. Metal scrapers were already there. Many windows are now broken.

    Unknown plans for the future

    ---

The building is not totally occupied: One part is a Sûreté du Québec police station, but another, much larger part remains unoccupied.
