in the eyes of a townhouse development, very overgrown and yucky.

The widowed Bancroft wife passed away in this home back in 2001, and to date nobody knew it was there, hence nobody vandallized it. Although house and outbuildings are in quite poor condition, they are, however, still in their original unmodified conditions, full of all her personal belongings that the grandchildren didn't care to pull out of there.

Originally this cozy orchard house sat on 25 acres of fruit bearing soil. It was built without a bathroom, and one was added, along with the current kitchen and a bedroom, back in the 40's. Built circa 1924, the pioneer couple, now deceased, subdivided their farm more than once. First, they sold a sizable rear portion to the City of Burnaby to be used as a community park. This park still bears numerous trees from the original orchard. Decades later, they again subdivided their property to support a large housing complex which shadows the home today, and was built using the same colours as the old home. As the surrounding neighborhood was chewed up and spit out by the skytrain line, road realignments and aggressive development, the poor old craftsman farmhouse found itself in a most undesirable location. Very well hidden from the rest of the world, and actually using well water up until the mid eighties, this property has finally given up its leghold to the ever dominating urban development. Noort Homes Ltd. has come forward to develop the still large property and plans to wipe out one of this city's last reminders of rural living before the end of the year.** SITE DEMOLISHED **
