Once a pioneer tram station community. Only two houses remain of this 1904 neighbourhood, the rest having made way for a new and exciting concept called a FREEWAY. As Burnaby made the transition from rails to rubber, once-proud farmers and their families were bought out and moved along by the dozens, while the not so lucky ones quite literally walked away from their worthless properties. It is these few "other" houses, the ones that were not exactly in the way of the 1956 paving madness, that have left behind their footprints for us to ponder over. Most homes were looted and vandalized until the greenery got big enough to make people forget about them. That gave them three additional decades to secretely collapse into themselves uninterupted. Once serviced by both the Cumberland Station and the Hill Avenue Station, this tightly knit community is now nothing more than four houses in the way of a park expansion, two of which date from the original neighbourhood, and a very wide spread scattering of heritage house corpses.
