     History
Built in 1929 for Erik and Carrie Flodin by Olund Bros. Construction Co. on a two acre parcel in East Burnaby. Classified as a Dutch Colonial, the stately orchard house was owned by the Flodin family until 1967, when the plot was purchased by The Stobart family. The land was then subdivided into three lots, the garage was moved onto the house's lot (behind the house) and the two remaining lots sold to developers. The Stobarts remained in the Flodin House until recently, when widowed Janey Stobart sold the well-maintained home and grounds to a Surrey developer. A demolition permit was granted and the house's fate seemed to be sealed. However, a local resident who recognized the home as being the last unaltered heritage home on the street was quick to generate a petition and mass publicity, forcing the City of Burnaby to buy the house off of the developers, pick it up and move it to a city-owned lot one block away. It has since been fully restored, registered in the heritage buildings database, and given a legal heritage designation.

     Future Plans
Within days of being demolished, the permit was frozen and the City pulled the home out of the path of the bulldozer. Now an occupied private residence.
